So after day 3 it was consistency that paid off. Team Cosmic Warrior sealed the deal with a 3-2 on the final day. Although it wasn’t looking good at the start when we fouled the V-333 and had to do a spin, which left us in DFL temporarily. To me it was groundhog day, as that was the exact same way we started day 3 at last year’s inlands. But the difference was this year we came back strong and finished 3rd in the race. The race was won by Team Melvin who won the previous race as well. The leader board was tight going into the final race. Porters and the M-1 jumped out to a huge lead, Andy got into the mix on the downwind…we knew we had to sail well to clinch…then Hootie fell out of the boat at the leeward mark! We got him back in pretty quickly, amazingly dude still had his shades and his visor on…nice job bro. The breeze died, then filled, then died again. Porters won the race….Robbie won the event. Now I can sleep and dry out a bit….
forecast changed, nice day on the water. 10-12 for the first race, ramped up at the warning signal of the second to a steady 15 ish. The day was won by Andy Burdick and his team and they did some much needed climbing of the ladder. Team me4lvin had a good showing as well with a 6 and a bullet in the second race of the day. Good job boys, hope you didnt use all of your cards on that lefty! The bad news of the day was that Wierd leos puppet stage is down, dont know if it was the weathyer or Pat the parking lot nazi that made them take it down. ..i will check on that. results are here

After the 13 hour drive from the heart of scowville USA, 17 A scow teams arrived at one of the most beautiful lakes in the country to compete in the NCASA Championships. Never before has there been an A scow event held in Michigan and the excitement was felt by both the competitors as well as the gracious hosts and members of the CLYC. Never before have I seen groups of people walking around the parking lot just to watch teams rig their boats and put the masts up. Clearly they are stoked to have us here and the feeling is mutual. This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever sailed and I am glad we were able to get them to host this event. The skies cleared this morning to truly showcase the clear blue water that looks more like the Caribbean than a lake in Michigan. The breeze filled to a 12-16 and the 17 teams were off to the races so to speak. The left looked good but there I-28 Andy Burdick close behind. Melvin held the lead for the lap but lost the edge and Andy schooled them ... Read More »
