Our 2016 National Championship Regatta will be hosted by the Torch Lake Yacht Club. Torch now has three A scows in their fleet, so let’s have a huge turn out to support the growth of this new A Scow fleet!
Noted for its exceptional wilderness beauty, the waters of Torch Lake are unusually clear and are a bright turquoise hue similar to Caribbean waters. Torch Lake is 19 miles long (making it Michigan’s longest inland lake) and about two miles wide with a maximum depth of 315 feet (average depth of 111 feet), making it Michigan’s deepest inland lake. With approximately 18,770 acres, it is Michigan’s second largest inland lake. This is an incredible scow racing venue and should not be missed – make your plans NOW.
TLYC is located on the northeast side of the lake just 35 miles from the Traverse City airport (if you are considering flying some of your team in). There are plenty of accommodations in the area, but make your reservations early as this is a popular vacation destination.
