Meet NCASA Commodore, Lee Alnes

Lee Alnes is the current NCASA Commodore from the White Bear Yacht Club.

Lee Alnes grew up sailing on White Bear Lake Minnesota. Since 1970 he has raced Xs, M-16s, M-20s, MCs, Cs, Es, Lasers and the A Scow. He started racing A Scows in 2004, having never been on one before (“it’s just a big E boat, right?”). Like most A Scow sailors at White Bear, Fletcher Driscoll was the driving force to get him started in the class. He purchased his current boat “Euphoria”, from Fletcher (2000 Melges, original owner Jim Klauser) in late 2010 and had it retrofitted to the modern swept-spreader rig. Lee also races his E scow on White Bear and in ILYA and NCESA events. He has been an NCASA Board Member since 2006, having served previously as Secretary, and now as Commodore.
