James Wendell Sherry, age 70; beloved husband of Helen Sherry, Nee Champagne; loving father of Christopher Sherry, Brian (Jaime) Sherry, Neal Sherry and Shaun (Melissa) Sherry; cherished grandfather of Kyla, Grace, Ronin and Vanessa Sherry; dear brother of Lorne Sherry, Arnold Sherry, Noreen LaMarsche, Juanita McDonald and the late John Sherry; cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. “It is with respect and sadness that we announce that Wendell Sherry lost his heroic 10 month battle with cancer. His family is thankful he is finally at peace. They want to take a moment to thank everyone for their love, support, and prayers. This was inspirational to both him and his family. Wendell was a winner when it came to life on many levels. Family, business, and sailing were his strong suits. Wendell tried out for the Olympics with his brother, Lorne, in the Flying Dutchman class in 1976. He built his own observatory near Lake Geneva. Hours before his death, he sat up in bed, asked for a scotch, enjoyed it as he spoke with his family for 15 minutes, and said, ‘see ya later’.”
